How to Restore Internet Access Blocked by Malware?

Is your computer infected with a virus and you cannot access the Internet? Malware often tends to block the Internet access by altering the proxy settings. People might wonder why malware or virus blocks the internet access. Malware loves blocking internet access to ensure that you are unable to visit websites to download security programs and software to get rid of the malware. Most variants of malware modify the Internet browser settings and add a proxy server. Whereas some types of malware modify the DNS settings of the computer. The other kinds of malware add a variety of entries to the host file of the operating system.

By changing the server settings, computer malware not only causes redirect issues but they also completely block access to the internet. If you cannot access your internet and you think that it could be due to a virus infection, and then check the proxy settings. How to Remove Proxy Server from Internet Explorer:-

Check the proxy server settings of your browser to see if a proxy server is blocking internet access.

Step 1: Click on the start button to open Internet Explorer.
Step 2: After the Internet Explorer opens, go to the gear icon on the upper right corner.
Step 3: Go to Internet Options in the drop down menu and click on it.
Step 4: A new window will open. Click on the “Connections” tab.
Step 5: In the Connections window, click on the “LAN settings” button.
Step 6: In the LAN settings, check that the box “Use a proxy server for your LAN” is unchecked. If it is checked then uncheck it and click on “OK”.

Check the DNS Setting on your Computer:-

Malware often changes the DNS server settings. Even after removing the malware, the settings remain changed. Here is how you can restore the DNS settings:

Step 1: Click on the Start button.
Step 2: A menu will open. Go to “Control Panel.”
Step 3: A window will open. Click on” Network and Internet.”
Step 4: Now click on “View network status and stats” in the opened window.
Step 5: Click on Local Area Connection.
Step 6: Click on Properties button in the bottom left side of the opened window.
Step 7: Go to “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”
Step 8: In the Properties window, click on “Properties.”
Step 9: See whether the “Obtain DNS server address automatically” is checked. If it is unchecked then check it. And click OK.

Change the browser settings to default:-

Step 1: Open the Internet Explorer and upper right corner of our browser you will find a gear icon. Click on it.
Step 2: A drop-down menu will come. Scroll to “Internet Options” and click it.
Step 3: In the dialog box “Internet Options” go to the Advanced tab and click on “Reset.”
Step 4: In the “Reset Internet Explorer Settings” box go to the “Delete personal settings” box and click “reset.”
Step 5: When the reset task has been completed by Internet Explorer, a confirmation dialogue box will pop up.
Step 6: In the confirmation dialogue box, click “Close.”
Step 7: Close the internet browser and re-open it.
